Garage roofs, cement sheeting, floor tiles, soffits and textured coatings are removed by trained operatives and disposed of through a licensed waste route.

The asbestos work we carry out
We are trained and equipped to remove and dispose of non-licensed asbestos materials. These are the lower-risk asbestos-containing materials that, under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, do not require an HSE-licensed contractor. In practice, the work we are most often called to do includes:
- Asbestos cement garage roofs and outbuilding roofs
- Asbestos cement sheeting, panels and wall cladding
- Asbestos cement guttering, downpipes and soffit boards
- Asbestos floor tiles and the bitumen adhesive beneath them
- Textured decorative coatings, such as ceiling and wall finishes
- Asbestos cement water tanks and flue pipes
- Clean-up and disposal of asbestos debris in garages, lofts and outbuildings
Work that needs a licensed contractor
Some asbestos materials are higher risk and, by law, can only be removed by a contractor holding a licence from the Health and Safety Executive. These include sprayed asbestos coatings, pipe and boiler lagging, and most asbestos insulating boards.
Managed Handover
If the material you have is in this higher-risk category, we will tell you clearly. We work alongside an HSE-licensed contractor and can manage the handover for you, so you have a single point of contact even when the work falls outside our own licence.
Surveys and air testing
Before removal work begins, it is sometimes necessary to confirm whether a material contains asbestos and which type. After removal, some jobs require air testing to confirm the area is safe. This survey and testing work is carried out by UKAS-accredited specialists, who are independent of the company doing the removal. That independence is a safeguard for you, and it is the correct way for the work to be done.
We work with a UKAS-accredited survey and testing partner and can arrange this for you as part of the job, so you are not left to coordinate two separate firms yourself. If you already have a recent asbestos survey, for example, from a property purchase or a commercial duty-to-manage survey, we can work directly from that.
How the work is carried out
Step 1: assessment and quotation. We assess the material, its type, condition and location, and confirm whether it is work we can carry out. You receive a written, fixed-price quotation. The assessment visit is free.
Step 2: Survey if needed. If the material has not been identified, we arrange sampling and analysis through our UKAS-accredited partner before any removal is planned.
Step 3: Plan of work. We produce a written plan of work setting out the method, the controls, and the waste route. For notifiable non-licensed work, we notify the Health and Safety Executive as the regulations require.
Step 4: controlled removal. The material is removed by trained, face-fit tested operatives using controlled methods that keep fibre release to a minimum. The work area is prepared and managed so that the rest of your property is not affected.
Step 5: licensed waste disposal. All asbestos waste is double-bagged, labelled, and removed by a licensed asbestos waste carrier to a licensed disposal site. You receive the waste consignment documentation.
Step 6: Clearance and handover. The area is cleaned and left ready for the next stage of work, such as a new garage roof. Where air testing is required, we arrange it through our UKAS-accredited partner before the area is signed off.
The documentation you receive
On completion of every job, we provide a documentation pack. This matters if you later sell or let the property, and it forms part of the asbestos records a business is legally required to keep.
- Written plan of work for the removal
- Survey or sampling results, where these were carried out
- Waste consignment notes, with the licensed carrier reference and disposal site
- Air testing or reoccupation certificate, where air testing was required
- Photographic record of the work, before and after
- HSE notification reference, for notifiable non-licensed work, if required

- Face-fit tested operatives. All operatives are face-fit tested for respiratory protective equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I have asbestos?
Asbestos was used widely in UK buildings until 1999, so any property built or refurbished before 2000 may contain it. Common places include garage and outbuilding roofs, floor tiles, textured ceiling coatings, and cement sheeting. You cannot identify asbestos reliably by sight. If you are not sure, call us and describe what you have found, and we will advise on whether sampling is needed.
What is the difference between licensed and non-licensed asbestos removal?
Under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, higher-risk asbestos materials, such as sprayed coatings, pipe lagging, and most asbestos insulating board, can only be removed by a contractor holding a licence from the Health and Safety Executive. Lower-risk materials, such as asbestos cement and floor tiles, can be removed as non-licensed or notifiable non-licensed work. We carry out non-licensed work and will always tell you honestly which category your material falls into.
Can you remove my asbestos garage roof?
Yes. Asbestos cement garage roofs are one of the most common jobs we carry out. They are non-licensed work, so we can assess, quote, remove, and dispose of the roof, and clean the area ready for a replacement roof to be fitted.
Do I need a survey first?
Not always. If the material is clearly identifiable, for example, a typical asbestos cement garage roof, we can often proceed without a separate survey. If the material has not been identified, sampling and analysis are needed first. We arrange this through a UKAS-accredited partner.
What happens to the asbestos waste?
Asbestos waste is double-bagged, labelled, and removed by a licensed asbestos waste carrier to a licensed disposal site. It cannot lawfully go in a normal skip or household waste. You receive the waste consignment documentation as part of your pack.
Is it safe to have asbestos removed while I am living in the property?
For most non-licensed work, yes. The work area is prepared and controlled so that fibre release is kept to a minimum and the rest of your property is not affected. We will explain the arrangements for your specific job before we start, including whether you need to keep clear of the immediate work area.
What does it cost?
Cost depends on the material, the quantity, and access. We provide a written, fixed-price quotation after a free assessment, so you know the cost before any work begins. We do not start chargeable work without your agreement to the price.
What if the asbestos turns out to need a licensed contractor?
If the material turns out to need licensed removal, we will tell you clearly and will not attempt it ourselves. We can point you towards reputable HSE-licensed contractors, so the work can be arranged safely.
