24/7 Emergency Response
Clean N Bright offer specialist trauma cleaning following unattended death, suicide, serious injury, and other distressing incidents in homes and workplaces. We are accredited by the National Association of Crime Scene Cleaners and can be on-site across South Yorkshire within two hours, 24/7.
If you have been asked to arrange this for someone you have lost, we know the call is not an easy one. You can ring us at any hour and we will tell you what happens next, in plain language and there is no obligation in the call itself.

When our service is needed
Trauma cleaning covers any incident where there is biological contamination, blood, bodily fluids, or decomposition, that requires specialist removal and decontamination. We are called to attend in situations including:
- Unattended death in a domestic property, where a person has died alone and may not have been found for some time
- Suicide and self-inflicted injury, in homes, workplaces, vehicles, and public spaces
- Sudden death in a care home, residential setting, or healthcare facility
- Serious accident or injury in a domestic or commercial setting
- Decomposition cleaning, including extended cases and severe odour remediation
- Post-incident cleaning following violence, once the scene has been released
- Industrial and workplace incidents requiring biological decontamination
How we work, on every call-out
- Phone assessment before we leave: We ask a small number of practical questions so we arrive properly prepared and you do not have to repeat the detail on the doorstep.
- Site assessment on arrival: A walk-through with the commissioning party, conducted briefly and respectfully, before any work begins.
- Containment of the affected area: We isolate the area to prevent cross-contamination of other rooms in the property.
- Removal of contaminated materials: Soft furnishings, carpet, flooring and any structural materials that cannot be decontaminated are bagged for licensed disposal.
- Chemical and mechanical decontamination: All surfaces in the affected area treated to industry-approved standards.
- Odour remediation: Including ozone or hydroxyl treatment where required. This neutralises the source of the odour rather than masking it.
- Recovery of personal belongings where possible: Items of sentimental or practical value that have not been contaminated are set aside, recorded, and returned to the family.
- Hazardous waste consignment: Tracked through a licensed Environment Agency carrier.
- Documentation pack on completion: See section below for what is provided.
The documentation we provide
On completion of every job, we issue a documentation pack. This is useful for families dealing with insurance claims and estate administration, and it is required by housing providers, care settings, and insurers.
- Hazardous waste consignment notes, with carrier reference
- Certificate of decontamination
- Method statement and risk assessment (issued in advance for scheduled work)
- Photographic record covering before, during and after
- Inventory of recovered personal belongings, where applicable
- ATP swab results where surface validation is required
- Insurance-claim-ready report on request
Request a sample documentation pack by filling out the form below.
Accreditations and standards we work to
- National Association of Crime Scene Cleaners (NACSC): Member and accredited operator.
- COSHH compliant: Full compliance with the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations.
- Licensed hazardous waste carriers: Waste tracked from collection to incineration via Environment Agency licensed partners.
- Public liability insurance: £5 million cover. Certificate available on request
- DBS-checked operatives: All staff entering domestic premises are vetted.
- Trauma-aware training: Operatives trained in how to interact with bereaved family members and witnesses present at the property.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be at the property when you attend?
No. You can give us instructions over the phone and arrange for us to collect keys from a neighbour, letting agent, or family member. We will phone you when the work is complete and walk you through what was done.
What will it cost?
Costs vary with the size and nature of the work. We will give you an indication on the phone based on what you can tell us, and a firm quote after the site assessment. We do not begin chargeable work without your agreement to the cost.
Will my home insurance cover the cost?
Some home insurance policies cover specialist cleaning following an insured incident, including unattended death. We can speak to your insurer on your behalf if that would help, and we provide all documentation in the format claims handlers require.
Will the property smell afterwards?
Severe odour from decomposition is the most common concern, and it is the issue we deal with most often. Our process neutralises the source of the odour rather than masking it. After we leave, the property will not smell of the incident, and it will not smell of cleaning products.
Will my belongings be safe?
Yes. Anything of sentimental or practical value that has not been contaminated is set aside, recorded on an inventory, and returned to you. If you have specific items you want kept - photographs, paperwork, an item of jewellery - tell us before we begin and we will look for them first.
What gets removed?
Any soft furnishings, flooring, or structural material that has been contaminated and cannot be safely decontaminated. We will walk you through what needs to be replaced before we begin so there are no surprises. Where insurance is covering the work, this list also goes into your claim.
Will the property be safe to use afterwards?
Yes. The certificate of decontamination we issue confirms the property has been restored to a safe condition. Where appropriate, we provide ATP surface validation as additional evidence.
Will you be discreet? What do your vehicles look like?
Our vehicles carry the Clean N Bright name but no description of the specific service. Operatives wear unbranded PPE for sensitive call-outs. We do not discuss the work with neighbours or anyone other than the commissioning party.
How quickly can you attend?
Across Doncaster, Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and Wakefield, we aim to be on-site within two hours, 24 hours a day. For locations further afield, we will confirm timing at the point of booking.
Do you work with Funeral Directors?
Yes. We can lease with funeral directors across South Yorkshire and they can pass our details on. We can take instructions on a family's behalf, or speak with the family directly - whichever the funeral director prefers.
