The scene. The problem was concentrated in the loft, where the mice had been active, and the insulation had absorbed the signs of it. Contaminated loft insulation cannot simply be treated in place. Droppings, soiling and nesting material work down into the fibres and hold there, which is why the material has to come out in full rather than be cleaned and left. The task was therefore a clear sequence: remove the live problem, strip the loft back, decontaminate what remained, close the gaps the mice had used, and reinstate the insulation the loft had lost.

Clean N Bright cleared the infestation first, so the source of the problem was dealt with before any restoration began. The team then removed all of the contaminated loft insulation, bagged it, and cleared the space back to a clean base. A full sanitisation of the loft followed, treating the surfaces the mice had reached. Proofing was carried out next, closing the routes the mice had used to get in and stopping the problem from returning once the work was finished. With the loft clean, treated and sealed, new insulation was installed throughout, restoring both the hygiene and the thermal performance of the space.

The Outcome of our Decontamination

The whole job was completed within two days. The loft was handed back to the council clean, decontaminated, proofed against re-entry, and fully re-insulated, with the home returned to a safe and usable standard. Two days in and two days out, with the problem closed off rather than cleared.
