Drug Den Cleaning
BBC Look North Visits a Former Drug Den with Clean N Bright Cleaning Services
We recently had the opportunity to work alongside BBC Look North as part of a feature on the critical work we do at Clean N Bright Cleaning Services, and it was a day to remember.
Mark, one of BBC Look North’s reporters, joined us on-site at a former drug den, where we were carrying out a complete specialist clean-up. The property had been left in a hazardous state, and our team was brought in to make it safe, hygienic, and ready for future use. Mark had never experienced this before and was shocked by how the property had been left and by the fact that people had been living in it.
Mark, with his camera, captured the reality of what it’s like to deal with extreme cleaning jobs like this. From discarded needles to biohazard risks and the emotional toll of the environments we work in, it was an extremely hot day, and it’s not much fun working in full PPE. The BBC Look North team wanted to show the public just how important (and challenging) our work can be.
It was an honour to be interviewed by Mark and share our insight into:
- The dangers of contaminated environments like drug dens
- The PPE, protocols, and training required to carry out these jobs safely
- The vital role trauma and biohazard cleaners play in supporting public health and property recovery
What made this visit stand out was the genuine interest from the BBC in highlighting the human side of our work - the unseen effort, the compassion, and the commitment it takes to clean spaces that most people would never enter, as well as to highlight what the communities around a drug den must endure daily.
We’re incredibly proud of our team and grateful to Mark and BBC Look North for helping raise awareness of the work we do.
