WE ARE DONNY: When a chance meeting leads to something extraordinary
At Clean N Bright, we believe that some of the best opportunities come from getting involved in our community.
Earlier this year, while volunteering at the Run the Runway event, Lisa had the pleasure of meeting Sally from Right Up Our Street. What started as a simple conversation soon led to us being invited to support one of the most unique and memorable projects we have ever undertaken.
A Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience
Sally asked if we could help clean the large photographic portraits that formed part of the WE ARE DONNY, a global art initiative originally created by the internationally renowned artist JR.
Working on the portraits at the airport was a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. It certainly wasn't without its challenges. The heat played a massive part in the clean-up and tested the whole team throughout the day. Thanks to the dedication of our operations team and the fantastic support of the airport staff, we successfully used jet washing to remove the portraits, ensuring the runway got back to doing what it does best.
To have played a part in such an inspiring international art installation was a real privilege, and it's an experience our team will always remember.
From the Runway to a Doncaster Landmark
Following the project at the airport, we were then moved on to clean the iconic WE ARE DONNY artwork on the Primark building in Doncaster town centre.
This project was made possible with the support of Doncaster Council, who helped with traffic management and equipment hire.
Cleaning one of the town's best-known shops, which had taken part in such a unique experience, was another unforgettable experience.
Working Together for Our Community
Looking back, it's amazing to think that all of this began with a chance meeting while volunteering at the Run the Runway event.
